Give Thanks: 4 Reasons to be Thankful You're a Delaware Resident

Thanksgiving is upon us! And while we are already looking forward to the winter holidays, it is important to avoid overlooking this special day in November. In the midst of life’s chaos, hustle, and bustle, it is extremely beneficial and healthy for the soul, to stop. To stop, smile, and admit that there is happiness, contentment and fulfillment in what we already have. To pause one moment and slip out of the rat race long enough to be thankful for life’s blessings – the ones we most take for granted: life, health, family, and the little things.

In addition to your list of things to be grateful for, we’ve got a few reminders of why “Being a Delaware Resident” should be one of them!

#1 - Delaware is extremely “Tax Friendly.”

There is no state sales tax in Delaware. (Can all the shopaholics wave their hands?) As a matter of fact, Sussex County actually tied for 2nd place among all US counties in being one of the lowest ratio of median annual property tax to home value. In addition, Delaware has been named one of Most Tax-Friendly Locations of all the US states, by multiple sources. Social Security benefits are also not taxed.

#2 – Delaware is a “Happening” Place.

Annual Delaware state events include these and much more: Premier East coast Firefly Indie/Rock Music Festival in Dover, Delaware State Fair in Harrington, Summertime Wilmington, DE Jazz Festival and the Bridgeville, DE Punkin’ Chunkin’ Fall Contest.

#3 – Delaware has amazing beaches.

Whether you enjoy partying on the beach with live music and happy crowds or prefer a more serene and tranquil environment, there is a beach with your name on it! Delaware offers some of the most beautiful, clean beaches and the culture that you would expect to surround such shorelines. Enjoy a stress-free, coastal resort lifestyle at Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island and Rehoboth Beach. You can anticipate all of the relaxation and luxury your heart desires, with both casual and fine dining, boutiques and stores, as well as stunning venues and endless opportunities to engage in unique, enjoyable experiences.

#4 – Delaware wages are pretty awesome.

Did you know that Delaware residents earn the 7th highest salary in the entire country? Delaware state is also ranked #9 as the fasted growing state in America and neighbors large cities such as Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York City, Baltimore, MD and numerous portions of New Jersey.

So there you have it - four more reasons to be happy that you are a Delaware resident. And if you are considering a move to Delaware, let us help you take the leap! The Don Williams Group is the team for you. In 2017 alone, we’ve already helped over 80 families buy and sell their Delaware homes. Who knows? Maybe next year, “Being a Delaware resident” could be added to your list of things to be thankful for!
