Go Brit or Go Home
There is something so incredibly magical about London. The entire British empire is so full of rich history, charm and all the elegance and extravagance associated with royalty. Like most millennials, I am quite obsessed with the royal couple, William and Kate, iconic guards at Buckingham palace, Harrod's department store and all of the big sites such as the Big Ben, the London eye and Piccadilly Circus. During one day of our honeymoon, my husband and I got to explore London and visit the West Minster Abbey. We sipped tea in Harrod's mezzanine. Pictures were taken in front of Buckingham palace and of course, inside of the red phone booths. It is on our bucket list to make it back to London for more exploring in the near future.
Until we make our return trip however, it is nice to know that there is a little taste of Britain right here in Rehoboth Beach! When I first moved to the east coast I often heard conversation about this amazing restaurant near the beach with the best fish and chips around. So I of course, had to check it out myself. Stepping into Go Britt was a treat... Let's start with the fact that their front doors have red phone booths painted on them. Ok, once that sinks in, then immediately to my left I saw the cutest mini Cooper (which my husband will be so proud I know the name of) and a very contemporary take on British patriotism in the decor. On the walls were monotone murals of traditional London settings. Your food is served on baskets filled with newspaper printed tissue paper.
Aside from the warm and adorable atmosphere, the rumors about the food is pretty warranted. The fish and chips are just as good as the ones served across the sea. Their menu consists of numerous items such as Clam Chowder, Coconut shrimp, Tandoori Chicken Skewers, a Broiled Cajun Mahi sandwich, Crab cake sandwiches and pretty much every other seafood you could crave. To see their full menu, click here. The prices are extremely affordable which makes it a very family friendly environment and one that you would feel proud to bring a foodie friend to. Visit one of their two locations at 18388 Coastal Hwy. any day of the week after 11am.
