This weekend promises to be a blast for any cajun-food loving man or woman! (I know I'm speaking to myself on that one.) After all, there's nothing better than the flavorful spice of a good 'ole homemade deep dish bowl of gumbo. I've actually got to restrain myself from writing a poem or bursting out in song about one of my favorite dishes of all time. I'm not from Louisiana, but my husband's side of the family is. My father-in-law has made a believer out of me! I feel like I never ever truly lived before I tasted his gumbo. So imagine my delight when I realized that this weekend is the Rehoboth Mardi-Graw festival and gumbo crawl!

Saturday, March 5th from 2 to 5pm, you can participate in tasting gumbo from various restaurants in Rehoboth, including: America's Pie, Beachside Bar and Grille, Cafe Azafran, Fins Fish House and Raw Bar, Hobos Restaurant and Bar, Lula Brazil, Mariachi, Papa Grande's Coastal Taqueria, The Pig Fish, Purple Parrot Restaurant and Bar, Spice & Tea Exchange, The Pond Bar & Grill, Zogg's Raw Bar and Grill, Rigby's Bar and Grill and Seafood Shack. 

Admission into the gumbo crawl is just $10 a person. This allows you to visit all of the restaurants listed above and taste the various recipes for gumbo. Once you're finished tasting at least 5 different concoctions, cast your ballot for the best bowl! Ballots are available at the participating restaurants. The top three People's Choice winners will receive cash prizes and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies. The winners will be announced the next day on Sunday, March 6th, at 2pm at The Pond Bar & Grill.
